Hi today my son has been pooping like crazy and the poor thing has what looks like a chemical burn from so much irritation on his bum he is crying at every diaper change just to even touch him I have diaper cream but I was always told it will ruin the diapers can I just put diaper cream on him if I lay a flat in cover will it ruin the flat at this point I don't care about the flat but I wouldn't want to ruin a pocket or should I buy a pack of disposable

Re: Help please !!!!! My son is on pain

Awww...sorry, mama!

Get his diaper off, run a warm bath for him and dissolve some baking soda in it, then let him soak in the water for 20 minutes or so. It works wonders!

After the bath, let his bottom air dry, then what kind of diaper cream do you have? If it's traditional zinc oxide-based diaper cream, you can put it on his bottom but you'll need to put a fleece liner between the cream and the diaper to keep the cream from getting on the diaper.

You use non-cloth diaper safe cream if you use a liner (either flushable or fleece). If you don't have either maybe you could use some other type of barrier like a cloth wipe or other type of cloth.

Re: Help please !!!!! My son is on pain

Honestly, Ive used all sorts of creams...A&D, balmex, boudreaux butt paste... With cloth dipes. I find it garder to get out of synthetic fiver than out of cotton. Even after using it a few days in a row, Ive never ruined a diaper or had to strip the diapers. But with the synthetic favric I did have to wash twice in very hot water.

Cotton flats....it washed out really easy.

I use a mixture of aquaphor and mylanta as a diaper cream. I put a bunch on every change because my son gets rashes if he poops. The cream hasn't effected my diapers at all.
If a cream does ruin a diaper i have heard to just use dawn and a toothbrush to get out any oily buildup

I'd cut up an old T shirt for liners, and use the thickest most soothing diaper cream you've got. T shirt liners are really soft on sore bums. OR just use lots of coconut oil or Weleda calendula cream, those are really good and CD safe.

Also ditto the bathtime and air time, do this whenever possible.

Poor little guy hope it clears up fast!!!

I agree, bath and lots of air. I would put coconut oil on his bum though if you have some.

I'm sorry your baby is hurting!

No diaper as much as possible. Keep the bottom dry. I recommend sposies for a little while but that's just me. Use a TON of butt cream. GL!

Flats are more resilient. If you want to use "non cloth safe" diaper cream just keep him in a flat too. Wash the flats with cream separately than other diapers and they will most likely be fine (though they may stain). Depending it may take a few washes to get it out.

extra virgin olive oil is good for the bum. a good body/bum oil is 1 pt caster oil, 3 pt extra virgin olive oil (or other lighter oil). Caster has lots of healing properties.
