Re: Help please !!!!! My son is on pain

The best thing I've found for rashes from acidic poop is liquid antacid. I just shake it well, then use a cotton ball to dab it on. And it's cloth diaper safe!

Second the baking soda bath. It will neutralize the burn. And I would use an old T-shirt as a barrier and lay that cream on thick after air drying. Go coverless if you can.

Re: Help please !!!!! My son is on pain

As the other mamas have said, going coverless is probably the best, and the bath and using liquid antacid and a liner. Is your son teething? My son would always get terrible corrosive poop when he was teething.

Re: Help please !!!!! My son is on pain

Calmoseptine, available at Walgreens in with the antacids, it's an ointment and one of several uses it is approved for is diaper rash, it is the best for what you are describing, in my experience. Though maylox would be a good idea too! I tend to use disposables when these are the needs, but I would use a liner if I were using cloth. After a day of the barrier cream at every change I try to switch off and put him in fitteds for air flow, but I don't use the cream with fitteds at all...

We do baking soda baths several times per day when they are having this issue. Also to avoid "wiping" because it hurts and you may leave residue I lay mine on the bathroom counter and was their bum with mild soap and warm water using my hand and rinse really well.
