How long were you 4cm dilated?

Last week I was 4 cm dilated and 50% effaced at 35 weeks (went in for consistent contractions). I made it another week (36 today) and am debating whether or not to get checked. I'm going to start taking my epo again tonight (I started last week but due to that much progress I decided to wait another week). I'm just wondering how long I could stay this way I'm hoping to make it to 37 but would love 38 or 39 weeks

Re: How long were you 4cm dilated?

I was 4cm at around 34-35 wks and dd2 did not come until 3 days before due date. She stayed in the longest of all my babies. I was expecting an early baby. Then when I was checked at 34 weeks I thought wow any day! But nope!

My advice is to just relax bc I was so frustrated at the end bc I had it in my head baby was coming any hour.

Less than a day. From my 3 pregnancies I have learned that 4 is my go time. It is a matter of hours from that point until I deliver.

I would try to avoid being checked in your situation as it can lead to labor in some cases.

Yeah that's what I've heard.

I've had clients literally walk around like that for months Remember dilation and effacement really is no indication of labor. Don't let it discourage you, mama!

I tend to dilate around 37w. By 38, usually, I am between 5-6. I tend to give birth sometime in that 38th week (varies between beginning and end).
Last time, I was 6 cms but could be stretched to a 7 and went to 38w6d, so almost 39 weeks!
Good luck!
The good thin about dilating so much before labor is a quick active labor phase!

I'm one of those early dilators too!
My last 2 kids I was 3-4+ for at least 2 weeks!
With my first, I was almost 5 for 2 weeks.

To ME dilation means NOTHING, except when I do go into labor, that's less dilating I have to do!

Re: How long were you 4cm dilated?

With my 2nd I was 4 cm from 34 weeks to due date. I was 9 cm when I arrived at hospital after only 2 hours of close contractions at home.

He wouldn't check me, all though he did lift pelvic rest. I am measuring 2 weeks ahead this week, and he said he's not concerned if she comes after next Thursday
