How do I avoid gaining a billion pounds while BFing?

3rd baby! Same story as before...

I'm STARVING! I eat like a beast while I'm nursing. It's embarrassing. I pump 20+ounces daily on top of EBFing my 2 week old. I'm a milk machine. I know it takes a significant amount of calories to keep my supply where it's at. Still, I'm afraid of gaining weight like I have before. I've always been on the heavier side to begin with. Despite losing 30ish lbs in pregnancy, I was bigger than I'd ever been before after 6 months or so of nursing my first baby. I ate a half of a carton of ice cream nearly every day. It was reckless and I paid for it. How do I avoid getting so fat this time around? Obviously I need to make better choices. That quantity of ice cream isn't good for anyone! I'm seriously STARVING though. I cannot stop eating. How many calories is reasonable per day?

Do you need to pump when you're ebf?

If not, I'd imagine causing less demand would make you less hungry?

Otherwise, I'd just not buy what you don't want to eat or find an accountability partner.

I ate only 1200 calories while nursing and have been nursing and losing weight for 18 months. I refused to gain like the last 3 times. I would make healthy food choices and drink plenty of water.

I'm EBFing my 2 week old. I'm pumping for my 12 month old & a friend's daughter who is FTT. Her mom's on the highest dose of domperidone possible (among a bunch of other supplements), but still doesn't make enough milk due to PCOS. She is allergic to formula and doesn't take solids well.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that gains weight while nursing. I see so many people say that BFing makes you lose weight. That was not the case either time!

With DS1 I made sure everything I ate was healthy. I ate a LOT of salads, but different kinds so I didn't get bored with them. And not just ones with lettuce and dressing. Like a blackened chicken caesar, or a baby spinach with craisins, and feta, or romaine with mandarin oranges and almonds. I also ate healthy snacks, like Greek yogurt or fruit or some nuts. I would also eat egg whites for breakfast. Getting rid of th yolk cuts out a ton of calories and fat. I made sure I drank at least 16 oz of water an hour while I was at work. I also hit the gym twice a week. I was determined to drop the baby weight as quickly as possible.
ETA: I put a calorie counter on my phone to keep track of every single thing I ate. I usually ate around 1500 calories a day, although I could have increased it to 2000. But I kept everything healthy and I was full eating around that amount every day.
