We named my oldest after my best friend who died when he was 18. My husband actually encouraged it since he was such a huge part of my life. Haven't ever regretted it.

I just realized after I asked the question that my dd3 has a middle name after her grandma who passed away while I was pregnant. But we didn't decide on her name until she was born, so it was 6 months after the fact. Maybe if I give it 6 more months I won't feel so emotional about my grandpa's names either.

I don't know what your definition of recent is, but my mother died in the month of June, and my Dd was conceived the December of that same year. Her middle name is my mother's name.

So, sorry for your losses too.

Re: Would you name baby after recently deceased?

I'm sorry for your losses. In my case too it wasn't recently deceased, but nonetheless, my son has my dad's name as his middle name. There were 7 years in between their death & birth. I love that he has my dad's name, as it gives me a good reason to talk about my dad, and keep the memories alive. It's also uncanny how similar the two of them are!

We did. We named ds after dh 's grandfather and mine both of whom had passed away. His name is Jackson Hayes and we love it. It fits ds to a T . It also make my grandmother smile when ever she says his name

Re: Would you name baby after recently deceased?

I named my DD after my grannie when she was still alive. She met my DD and died a few weeks later. I think she was holding out to meet her great granddaughter. Anyway, my DD is a lot like granny. They really do take after their namesakes!

We did with #4. She's after my nana, but not the exact name. Mostly because my nana hated her name and wouldn't have wanted that, but we did her name in another language, and kept her middle name, which is conveniently mil & sil as well. So they think it's for them, but it wasn't .
