Re: Little bf babies?

I nursed my first ds and he was tiny and still is, he is 3 1/2 and 32lbs, I couldn't nurse my dd and she was tiny and at 2 she is 22lbs. My 2nd ds is nursing and he seems to be gaining more than the other two did. He is only 7 1/2 wks so time will tell. I think some kids are just smaller and others are bigger. Not to worry.

Re: Little bf babies?

I make big babies.. I think my breasts produce butter.

Yeah, some babies are just small. My brother and I for example.. We were born just under a year apart (we were ff, he had LOTS of allergies that were discovered later) and had identical birthweights. We were both 8lb 11oz at birth. Then when he was 12mo, he weighed in at 25lb (after a year on soy formula, which we found out later he was allergic to!) and at 12mo I weighed only 18lb!
Wife to 1 Mama to.. too many to list!

Re: Little bf babies?

Kellymom has a growth chart that's based on BF babies and not formula fed babies like the growth charts doctors use! My son was 25lbs at 4 months and was born at 8lbs 3ozs.
My daughter was born at 9lbs 4ozs and at 3 months is 12lbs. I think girls just gain slower! As long as she's gaining weight (even if it's on her own growth curve and as little as 1oz a week).
As long as she's meeting her milestones and happy I wouldn't worry about it!

Re: Little bf babies?

She's fine.
My dd #1 was tiny and 100% ebf for 15 months. At 5 1/2yo she is still tiny and weighs about 34lbs. She has always been under the 20th percentile and our pedi's have never complaibed or said I should suppliment.

DD #3 is ebf and is a chunky At 15 months she is just now wanting to eat solids.

Every baby is different.
