Re: Cabbage recipes???

I like to dice up cabbage & cook it w/a little bit of salt, pepper, garlic & cayenne. I cook it in broth. Comes out great.

Runzas!
If you don't know these, it might be a regional thing. They are basically browned hamburger with salt/pepper/onion mixed in with shredded cabbage placed inside a wrapper of dough (Think like a dinner roll or bread dough) then cooked until they are deliciously awesome and browned. I'm sure there is a recipe out there on the interwebs that explains it better. There is a restaurant around here dedicated to these yummy things, but my mom in law and grandma make/made them from scratch all the time. They freeze well too I've heard.

Noodles and Cabbage sauteed together with butter and plenty of fresh ground pepper

Cabbage pie- double crust pie- fill crust with sauteed cabbage onion mixture, top with sliced hard boiled eggs, and a second crust and bake. It is awesome.

Re: Cabbage recipes???

My husband's family makes this thing they call halushka (haluski), from my internet digging I'm pretty it's a Polish thing. Basically it's fried cabbage and noodles but they add ground sausage to make it a one dish meal. I cook the sausage then remove it and cook the cabbage and an onion in the same skillet. Boil macaroni noodles, drain and add some butter, mix it all together and season to taste with salt and pepper. It's really good when it's cold outside.

I like to cook kielbasa sausage, onions, cabbage and potatoes in the slowcooker. add a little apple juice or water and season with salt, pepper and caraway seeds. I'm sure there's a more exact recipe out there....

Irish stew
In crockpot
Cabbage, quartered potatoes, medium diced onion, smoked sausage, big can diced or stewed tomatoes with juice, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder.
This is a great hearty stew and you can put in whatever veg you need to use up. I've used bell pepper, diced carrots, & zucchini in it, all good.
