(Help) Play name that poop! *pic included*

My 6 week old has consistently green, mucus-y poop. Does this look more like a fore/hindmilk imbalance or a dairy allergy? I'm thinking it's one or the other with his symptoms.

Help! I'm a FTM without a clue.

could be either. feed him from one side only per feeding or at least the first side as long as he wants. if it's dairy, sometimes they have eczema shots and lots of gas

my babies poops were like that when they had too much foremilk. I ended up just feeding them one side per session unless they went on a really long time on one side then I switched.

i agree with block feeding. my baby had that around 2-8 weeks. after block feeding, it gradually cleared up and his poop returned to normal!

The thing is that I've been doing a casual-type of block feeding for weeks now. We found out he was slow to gain and grow so I tried to make sure he was getting more hindmilk. So I generally only feed from one breast and then use that breast two feedings in a row. But maybe my oversupply is more serious than that and I need to be more disciplined and block feed for longer periods (3-4 hours at time)? Because of his slow growth in the beginning, I'm a little afraid to mess with block feeding if that's not what it is.

I should add that sometimes the poop is like dried spinach pieces. He does have dry patches of skin in places, but nothing that is obviously eczema.

How long did you block for? How long did it take to clear up?

Block feeding can lower your supply. If your child is slow gaining weight I would be wary of going longer on one side. Definitely consult a lactation consultant IMO.

My DD had poops like that but never had any other symptoms. If he acts fine but just has odd colored poops I wouldn't worry.

I absolutely agree. I am hoping to see a LC this week.

Happy to hear nothing else was going on. I'm hoping that's all it is, but he has so many other uncomfortable symptoms.
