Re: Baby name thoughts!

I don't mind it with Helen as the middle name. My favorite of all of the ones you listed is Johanna Aileen.

To me I don't like the first and middle both ending in the same 'Uh' (A) sound... if that makes sense?

I agree with this. You've got the "h" sound twice in Johanna Helen, but you've got the "nuh" sound twice with Elena/Elaina. That seems more prominent than just the "h".

I like Helen or Aileen, but here's my input on that: DD2's mn is a form of my grandma's mn. I like the way it sounds, but for the meaning part of it I wish we'd used my grandmother's actual name. So down the road you might feel that the name has more meaning if you use Helen. GL! Girl names are hard!

Re: Baby name thoughts!

Do you think you'll ever call her by both names? I wasn't too worried about how my LO's middle name sounded with his first as I'll never use it (also a family name). My sister, however, often calls her kids by both. I like Aileen best, followed by Helen.

Re: Baby name thoughts!

How are you pronouncing the first name? Like Jo-Anna or Joe-Hannah? I am assuming the second because of your concern about the "H" sound, but I have heard both.

I like Aileen. I think it flows nicely and being mostly of Scottish decent it sways me for that reason too. Plus I tend to like "inspired by" family names rather than directly naming after someone. Just a personal preference. Congrats on your baby!
