Baby swings: plugin?

Can we talk about baby swings?

WHY is it so hard to find one that plugs in as opposed to using batteries? Like, I get that there is a .001% chance of the thing catching on fire or something but there's a 100% chance of the batteries dying and I'm fresh out and the zombie apocalypse has just begun. So.. I like the fire chances better.

Graco doesn't really have one. Fisher Price seems to have some plug in ones but I hate the super huge amount of space those take up and the weird side to side swinging instead of front to back. No idea why I care since I'm not going to be sitting in it. Plus I bought a used FP swing with Wolfie and it creaked so loud and I just hated it. What are your brand experiences?

I love my fisher price swing. Mine the seat turned so it could swing the baby front to back OR side to side...

I forgot the one I had could do that too. We just never turned it that way because it creaked louder.

What are the odds of still having power during the zombie apocalypse?

Better than me having batteries when I need them, IMO.

Re: Baby swings: plugin?

You definitely want the plug in kind. We spent, no joke, hundreds of dollars on D batteries for DS2 who was a swing-a-holic. We have the older version of this, and other than not having a plug (which it now does), we liked it. It can swing side/side or front/back. ETA: DS2 loved the side to side swinging; he slept in that thing full time until he kept falling out.

Plug in way better. Better resell value as well.

I had a battery operated Graco swing for my 1st 3 babies and a Fisher Price swing that can plug in for my 4th, plug in is so nice! And the side to side motion is better for a newborn

Re: Baby swings: plugin?

I don't know anything about plug in swings, I traded in a crank model (I kid you not had to crank the stupid thing) for a battery F&P with my oldest. I prefer the side to side as that is what my boys both preferred. They are both sensory kids and my oldest had high volume GERD, the front to back swinging made him over stimulated and would cause him to throw up more frequently. The best advice I have to offer is invest in a swing you love and some good rechargeable batteries.

Re: Baby swings: plugin?

We just got two sets of Eneloop batteries and a charger, and kept the charger near the swing. Problem solved. Our kids all slept in the swing, so we would have used a lot of batteries.
