There's an elastic opening a few inches above where the diaper stops. You put the top part on first like a shirt, then pull the 'pants' down stretch put the elastic and slide their legs in one at a time. It takes under a minute after you've done it a few times. And with the only 'exit' at their lower back there's no way they can get out lol
