Does your (4,5,6) year old have an ipad?

Just curious. This never would have occured to me. We limit tv/game electronic time to about 2 hours a week. I see no need for my kid to have his own... but maybe I am missing some advantages? I know there are some games that help with learning, but I tend to make them be creative in the playroom. Then they just borrow mine when they play a game. I thought it was such a crazy thought but then found out several of my friends kids (who are around age 5) have their own ipad mini.

DD (almost 3) has her own but only because it's DH's hand me down and he has upgraded. She doesn't get to use it very often because I try to limit screen time too and I think any educational stuff she does on there she can do it other ways too. We bring it out for flights and long road trips as a distraction and very rarely at home. She probably sees it once every couple of months.

We got dd a tablet for her 3rd birthday. We limit when she uses it.

Ds1 also uses our tablet too. Again we limit

They use them when we go to our lake house two hours away

Our 6 and 4 year old have one to share, also because it's my old one. We wouldn't have bought them one. It's a first generation one. Even though we call it theirs they do not have unlimited access to it.

I dont even have one! And dd will not even be able to use a computer until she is 12-14 years old (other then education, limited time). DH has his MBA and is a Software Analyst, he thinks screen rot brains

We have a family iPad, but my 6 year old got his own Nook HD for Christmas (used off Craigslist). We are out and about for activities often, so it keeps him occupied while waiting for his sisters to finish, dance, karate, writing class, science club, etc.

Nope, not at all. I have loaded a couple of things of iPod/phone/kindle for when we travel but that's it. I know some folks pass down old generations when they upgrade but I think you have to be very careful when you let a kid have access to something which could then access the Internet. There could be a lot of unintended exposure. But we also are really strictly limited on screen time of any sort with the exceptions being long trips or sick days. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, lol

Ours don't have an iPad or Android tablet, but they both (ages 5 and 2) have a leappad explorer. It's generally for long car/plane trips only. I like that there's no internet access and that the games are mostly educational in some way.
