Detergent Poll: Mainstream vs. CD Safe

So in light of all the recent and continual debate regarding wash routines and using mainstream detergent, I was curious to see how many people have used cloth safe detergent successfully compared to mainstream and how many people have had issues with mainstream.

Poll added. My experience: tried several safe and battled barnyard and ammonia. Switched to Tide and have never had an issue since or needed to strip or anything.

"Diaper Safe"
Rockin Green-caused rash
Country Save-didn't clean well, bad ammonia
Charlies-couldn't even clean the b.o. smell out of shirts
Vaska-works great for lightly soiled laundry, not diapers

Mainstream
Tide-cleaned great, caused rash
Persil Megapearls-works great for me

Re: Detergent Poll: Mainstream vs. CD Safe

Original tide here. No stink, no rashes, no repelling, no odor.
Stash of all AIOs and fitteds, soft water.

I try not to overthink my routine it's pretty simple.
Cold prewash (since I don't spray/rinse anything before- still EBF)
Hot wash, extra rinse.
The only difference from any other load of laundry is the prewash. I've never checked the washer for bubbles or anything.

I tried many varieties of Rocking Green and had issues with them all. I tried a couple other "safe" detergents as well and had issues with them not getting the diapers clean. So now I stick to the mainstream ones like Tide and All Free and Clear. No issues with any of the mainstream detergents.

i dont think this is fair. No issues? Sure I've had to figure some things out along the way.

What Is biokleen considered? I wouldn;t call it maistream. It is more natural but not really in the "CD Safe" realem. I think it only gets 3 stars on pin strip and poka dots

I've successfully used biokleen liquid and rockin green.

What's not fair? By no issues I mean besides maybe an initial adjustment to a new detergent/washing routine, being able to use a detergent for a significant amount of time (3-6 months+?) without experiencing repelling, stink, or rashes.

By CD safe I mean detergents that are approved by diaper companies, most of whom have a list on their website. Mainstream to me means frowned upon by diaper companies/regular stuff you get at the grocery store.

Mostly I'm curious to see how many people have actually used approved detergents without running into problems. Seems like so many people are using normal grocery store brands successfully and having problems with "safe" detergents. That gets frustrating when there is a stigma that the people using mainstream are breaking some kind of rule and doing something wrong.
