DH is home on Mondays so no daycare. He goes to work late enough so he gets the oldest on the bus to school and then takes the other two to daycare. My middle rides the bus from daycare to preschool. I get off work and home in time to meet the oldest two bus after school.
I'm jealous.

Re: Just wondering about the differences across the U.S.

Full time daycare my friends use (nice place) is $85/week

I only ever did preschool. 2 half days a week was $70-$80/month, 3 days a week was $90-$100/month. If I needed to use the daycare option after class was over it was $2/hour and I needed to pack her a lunch.

Northern CA here, I charge $45-50/day for licensed childcare in my home. Preschools are $50-60/day for FT care. For just preschool 3hrs 3x/wk, $250/mo. or more.

AZ right on the AZ/CA border

I don't have a lot of hands on experience with this but what Ive heard from friends etc...

sitter- $5-$8/hr seems average
in home care $60/week per child
faculity care $150/$200 week per child small discounts for multipes
I pay $170 a month for a 2 day a week preschool next year I'll pay $200 for 3 day..

Re: Just wondering about the differences across the U.S.

I briefly watched our neighbors little girl in my home for $100 a week. NEVER EVER will i do that for that little again. I had her 70+ hours a week (though it was never supposed to be that long.) she wouldn't provide me with enough diapers (like she brought me 1-2 for a 14 hour day) rarely brought me food that didn't require odd prep work on my part if she brought any. I loved her little girl but it ended up costing me money. I would never even consider doing something similar for under $40 a day and CLEAR boundries.

Re: Just wondering about the differences across the U.S.

We pay $296/week for FT daycare/preschool (3YO).
An infant at the same center was $389 (1 year ago) so I'm sure it's about $400/week now. These are pretty typical rates for centers in our area (DC suburbs)

Re: Just wondering about the differences across the U.S.

In home daycare seems to cost around $1200 per month. A center would range from $12-15/hr for an infant depending on full of part time, and $10-14 for a toddler/preschooler. Yep, that is per kid! Suburban Boston.
