Question Best work from home option for moms?

Hi There,

I am curious if any of you have had luck working from home and what companies you work for? Looking for companies that would allow me to work from home immediately.

Thx!

I've never done it personally but have heard okay things about West At Home. But they do want you to do it without having noise. It is flexible in hours! It's customer service calls from home. But still needs to be run kind of like an office.

When I stayed at home, to be honest, while there *are* some things to make money. It's still tough with children under foot and not the same as WOHM. I found it much harder being home and having to work.

Just my opinion though!

Well I found that, that age for me was easier because he was just attached to the boob all the time. I did my Master's degree while nursing!

I'm a freelance writer. I don't work for a company though. I have done content sites, but right now I work mainly with private clients.

My SIL tried to do medical billing from home, but without daycare, she just couldn't get anything done. They wanted her to log in and be logged in for 8 hours with minimal 10 minute breaks and a meal halfway through. It just didn't work with a nursing baby. By the time she paid daycare, she didn't make enough money to make it worth it.

Re: Best work from home option for moms?

I'm currently working for Tutor.com and it is working out well. I can schedule my own hours and/or just log in when I have time. I usually only work 5-10 hours/wk but it is nice to have some spending money!

Re: Best work from home option for moms?

I second tutor.com, my husband does that. They have a variety of subjects, but generally the math & science areas are in higher demand for tutors. You need to take a test to qualify for each subject. Each week you sign up for hours that you can work (my husband does maybe 1 hour a day, though in the past he's done much more). During that time you get paid a smaller amount per hour just for being online, then when you're actually connected to a student you get paid your full tutoring amount. My husband plays video games or does homework until he's connected to a student, so it works out to be really nice. Even if you don't schedule hours, you can "float" -- you don't get paid just to be online, but you get paid when a student connects to you (there are more students during high volume times). They also give bonuses for high ratings and for keeping sessions short.

If you want details on wages, let me know.
