Can't eat deli meats?????

Ok-- has everyone heard this? that preggo women should NOT eat deli meats unless they are cooked to steaming before eating?? I am PG with my 5th-- and my doc has never told me this! --well it has been 7 years since my last-so maybe this is something new?

Now i'm freaking out because yesterday and today i had a salami and cheese sandwich for lunch!!! Do i need to call my Doc?? or just ask her about it at my next appt-- in 3 weeks- i'm 10 weeks preggo right now!

what do you guys think?

I have heard this just recently but I don't know if it's true or not and why you shouldn't. I still eat deli meat though

They say that deli meats that lay out all day can get warm and grow stuff!! But subway and quiznos and jimmy johns all have coolers underneath the product to keep it refridgerator cool!!

Yes, I heard this when pg with my oldest but my dr never told me to avoid it and i figured if it were that important he would have. I am now pg with #3- same dr and he still hasn't told me to avoid meat. I have never stayed away from it when pg, not that I reccomend eating it and I definitly don't reccomend going against what your dr says, I am just saying I wouldn't freak out over it I am sure you didn't hurt your baby You could call your dr/MW if you are really conerned and they will probably put your mind at ease

I'm sorry, but all I can say is O-M-G!!!! How much more paranoid can we get???? There is safety.. and THEN there is paranioa. Where do we draw the line?? I say we all move to the country and grow our own food... I'm sure they'd STILL find something wrong with that. Oh yeah, too much exertion. NOTHING is safe anymore.

That's been around awhile well before I got pg with dd nearly 5 years ago. When deli meat is tested it has bacteria a lot in rather high numbers so its not pariona but safety...Personally I didn't touch it while pregnant not only because of that but the sodium content in most of it and the fat content

When I was pregnant with ds I had never heards about that. I ate sandwhiches everyday. It was hot and it was the only thing I really liked to eat for lunch. Sometime after I found it out through google. I did avoid it this pregnancy but have had it a couple times. My doctor has never told me any of the foods to avoid.
