So hemp liners as pocket inserts?

Would love some feedback on using hemp in pocket diapers. Do you need the microfiber?

Hemp absorbs slowly so you would need something else with it.

Re: So hemp liners as pocket inserts?

i've hear hemp absorbs slower but I dont see it. I wouldnt say you need something else unless if you have a "flooder" you might.

But know the absorbency if what u are replacing the MF with. Hemp absorb alot for its size, but they are generally thin. Most full size MF i've check absorbs 8-10oz saturated. Med size hemp is 5-6oz saturated, I've never tested something marketed as lg or os. Only gefffen baby super plus have I seen 8oz.

I worry people might exchange a os MF for a sm thirsties hemp (4oz) and expect it to last for hours. it might, but not high chances.

good luck

Thanks for the input. I've never thought about the sizes before.

How do you know the absorbency of each product? Anyone have a helpful article or chart they use?

I find that if I put an older, well worn hemp insert on top of a newer one inside a pocket then its fine. Otherwise, I put bamboo or cotton on top.

I was thinking a thin cotton insert might work just in case of flooding. I want a thinner option so I've been experimenting with the hemp stuff.

Re: So hemp liners as pocket inserts?

Most diapering hemp is already heavily blended w/ cotton or bamboo...that affects both the overall absorbency and speed of absorption.

Sometimes you can ask a company but I just test everything I have here and see how much water it absorbs until it drips. I have a link in my sig that talks more about and if you google it some people have blogged about it.
