Re: Ear Infection

Check this out http://askdrsears.com/html/8/t081600.asp. My DS got over his ear infection w/o antibiotics. Do you have tylenol? A lukewarm bath will help if DH has a fever. I think the same goes for adults as does kids...

So sorry!

Re: Ear Infection

Hydrogen peroxide. My mom has used this on me since before I can remember.
1. Have him lay down on his side, head in your lap and infected ear up.
2. Have a towel ready
3. Pour 1 cap of Hydrogen Peroxide into his infected ear. It will sit there (sometimes for a while depending on how infected with pus it is) and eventually, it will "suck" in to the ear.
*it is going to bubble like crazy! THis is how it eats away at infection*
4. Have him lay as long as possible and then cover the ear with the towel and turn his head over. All of the hydrogen peroxide will pour out along with all of the pus and junk that was building up in his ear.
5. Have him put a very small amount (large pieces will put extra pressure on the ear) of cotton in his ear and do this about 2-3 times a day.

Good luck and , let me know how this works.

Re: Ear Infection

Olive oil is awesome. Warm a little bit and put 2-3 drops in his ear every hour or two. If you have some fresh garlic, simmer the garlic in the olive oil for a bit before you do it, as garlic is very beneficial. This is what we always use for ear problems here. There is a commercial form available, but it's easy to make your own and MUCH cheaper The effect is veyr similar to peroxide, but it is MUCH gentler on the ear.

Re: Ear Infection

What is the purpose of the cotton ball? To catch extra fluid from running out?

Re: Ear Infection

You can use Tea Tree Oil. You may already have some for your diapers. Here is the instructions:

Add 5-10 drops of warm tea tree oil to 1 Tbsp. of olive oil, mix thoroughly and trickle a small amount into the ear as needed.

This is very gentle for your little one. But it does wonders

Re: Ear Infection

I'm trying garlic/mullein oil right now to prevent an ear infection that's brewing in my son.

I have also heard great things about Garlic/Mullein oil. I hope it clears up soon.

Re: Ear Infection

Wow, this info is really helpful...for some reason, I've never entertained the idea that antibiotics wouldn't be necessary. I'm so glad to hear of this because I'm really starting to get angry and frustrated with the medical professionals I deal..particularly in regards to my children.

Not my thread, but thanks for the info ladies
