Dessert Ideas

My stepbrother and his wife are moving to New Hampshire. My parents are having a cookout for them Sunday and I told my mom I'd bring a dessert but I can't decide what to make. Any ideas? My mom ordered a cake so something not so cakeish I'm thinking.

Re: Dessert Ideas

I am the queen of deserts It's the only thing I like to cook!! Here's one I did for Memorial day, it is SOOOO good, especially if it's hot.

Frozen Desert

1 can sweetened condensed milk
10 oz frozen strawberries (I used my food dicer to cut frozen whole strawberries up--and I prob used more than 10 oz)
can of crushed pineapple
large tub of Cool Whip
2 bananas

I would let this freeze either overnite or all day. I thought it would freeze in an hour or so and it didn't

mmm cake.

My mom has a recipe for a cheesecake like dessert that I eat the filling without the graham cracker crust. I know it's got lemon juice, cream cheese, and condensed milk. I just don't remember quantities... but it's yummy! I can get the actual measurements from her if it's something you might be interested in.

If its not a problem I'd love the recipe. Sounds great. I'm not a crust person either.

I might make both of these. They sound yummy.

Re: Dessert Ideas

Are brownies too close to cake? A trifle is super easy..and you can use different things (like apple slices, shortbread, caramel, and cool whip for a fall-like dessert, etc). My favorite tho is:

brownies (make your fav kind according to box)
choc syrup
caramel syrup
heath candy bars (I usually buy 2 packs of the mini multi--or 1 big bars multi)
cheesecake or vanilla pudding mix (1 big box) -make acc. to box
cool whip (1 big tub or 2 little ones)

Cool brownies. Cut or tear into pcs. Make one layer in bowl (I always use clear cuz it's pretty). Drizzle syrups over brownies. Combine pudding and cool whip. Add layer over brownies. Sprinkle with heath candy. Add another layer of brownies, syrups, c.w. mixture, and heath. If you have room, do layers again. On the top, I drizzle the syrups over the cool whip, and then sprinkle the heath.

I did this one year for ds b-day, and everyone loved it.

Re: Dessert Ideas

My favorite cookout dessert is Striped Delight, a chocolate jello pudding recipe.

I just make it in graham cracker pie crusts, takes 2 for this recipe.
