Make sure you don't have a milk blister those are a *****! I got my first one ever with my third child. I had to peel it back with my finger nail to the point my nipple bled.

Re: Plugged duct help?

Warm washcloths (warm WET compress) and feed. I kept baby skin to skin and encouraged lots of feeding opportunities. Be careful with other breast. I was told to start feeds on affected side and ended up with one in the other side I'd recommend watching the clock and offering X minutes per side.

Re: Plugged duct help?

All of the above and lecithin. Sunflower works better than soy for me. Cleared up a 3-day rock hard plug in 2 capsules.

Re: Plugged duct help?

Do you have a hand pump? Take that in the shower and massage and hand pump.

YES! Exactly this- HOT as you can stand water right on it and a hand pump. It has taken care of it every time for me.

Re: Plugged duct help?

I have had quite a few of these... All the suggestions above are good and should help. Be sure to nurse with baby's nose in line with wherever the plug is....basically point baby's nose in the direction of the plug. I have used tea tree oil topically on plugs, and I believe it helped. If you are familiar with homeopathic remedies, Phytolacca Decandra in the 30C or 30X potency helped me tremendously. Also, rest, rest, rest and drink a ton of water!
