Re: Help me with my carseat hunt!

You might also want to check out the evenflo sureride/Titan 65. We have a smaller car (ford escort) and this one fits well in the middle of the back seat. It is a lower cost seat, it can be found on sale around $65, and normal price is $99, but is very comfy for her. She is still rear facing at 2 years, 3 months.

Re: Help me with my carseat hunt!

Has anyone tried the Safety 1st complete air or elite air seats? Or the Graco MySize 65 or 70? I'm just curious because they seem very affordable and do seem like nice seats but I don't hear as much about them?

While I am not opposed to paying the higher price for a Chicco but if one of the more affordable seats is pretty much just as good it seems like a better choice. Just curious what others thought of those seats?

I'll look into it but I want to look into other brands aside from evenflo. I have an evenflo infant seat and while it don't hate it enough to sell it, there are things that I am not thrilled with it that seem to be a brand thing. So I will look into it because fitting in smaller cars is important with us. As much as we love our Subaru it is not car seat friendly. Is that car seat tall? because with us it would have to be on one of the outboard positions. Subaru doesn't recommend installing a car seat in the center seat because of the hump nothing sits properly.

Re: Help me with my carseat hunt!

I had the Safety 1st onSide Air and wasn't impressed. Obviously the seats you mentioned are higher end, but wouldn't be my top pick. For a budget seat (if that's what you need) the SureRide is extremely popular among car seat techs because it's a good seat with a tall shell. I have an Evenflo Symphony 65 DLX and really like the seat and found their customer service to be excellent when I needed a (free) replacement part. I wouldn't recommend that seat for you because it's not very tall, but I wouldn't rule out that brand based on the infant seat.

I've heard good things about the Graco 70 clones but haven't tried them. They lack a built-in lock off and we do a seatbelt install in one car, so that was a deal-breaker for me. You CAN install just by locking the vehicle seatbelt, but a lock-off feels more secure to me and is easier for me to manage. Also it looks like RF with the headrest extended it may be on the bigger side: http://carseatblog.com/22818/the-ult...-size-matters/

We have Chicco nextfits and love them. I was able to find them on sale at target for 179 with the sale and a cartwheel coupon.

I don't think I understand what you mean by clone?

The graco my size/size 4 me/head wise and a couple others (my mind went blank) are all essentially the same seat. They are good, commonly recommended seats.

Aw thank you for clearing that up, I never realized it but now that I look back at them, they are pretty much the same seat. What I don't understand then is why one is like $40ish more expensive...

So then it looks like that my size 65 is just smaller as in can't hold as much weight. I wonder why Graco did this, what is the point of having so many names for one seat?

Don't rule out the Evenflo convertibles just because of your experience with their infant seat. I hate their infant seats, but their convertibles are great.

I don't plan to rule it out, I just don't have my hopes too high about it. But the real thing is going to be whether or not stuff fits in my car. So I think that is my next step, to go to BRU and try some out. Will they let me put baby in the seat to see how it fits?
