what's your favorite combination seat?

DD is almost 3.5 yrs, weighs around 33 lbs and is tall for her age, but I can't remember the inches. We have a britax she's fine in for a while longer but want to put DS (15 mos, 21lbs) in it RF so we're ready to get her a new seat. I think it's practical to get a 5 pt harness that can change to a booster. what's your favorite and do you know any lemons? BTW, is the recaro worth the extra $$$?

I have a Recaro (the ProSport, which has been replaced by the Performance Sport) and can't say enough good things about it. The Britax Frontier is also wildly popular, but I prefer my Recaro.

My Mood:
I pink sparkly heart the Frontier 90. It is the easiest install possible, most user friendly and comfy seat.

Re: what's your favorite combination seat?

We have both a Frontier (though the older 85) and the newest Recaro Performance Sport. The Recaro is easier to install, though both are pretty easy, I just prefer the Recaro. My daughter much prefers the Recaro. I had switched them out b/c her Recaro had gotten dirty (she normally rides in the Recaro, her Frontier in our truck which we don't drive as often), and after a couple of days she asked for her "pink" seat again. She says its softer on her bum (she's nearly 4 ). I would say the Recaro is totally worth the extra money.

Re: what's your favorite combination seat?

My ds loves his Graco Nautilus. He's six years old, pretty average sized, and just moved up to the highest harness slots. It's also easy to install. I don't have any experience with other combo seats that are out right now. We have a Frontier 80 as a backup for harness or booster. While I was in the hospital with the baby, nobody who was watching my kids could get it installed right for harnessed use. He ended up using it as a booster, which was fine I guess. I'm going to buy a Frontier 90 so the people who normally take him can easily install his seat and not have to worry about him sitting still in a booster. I have very wiggly, impulsive kids.

Re: what's your favorite combination seat?

I have no experience with combination seats, but I just want to point out that the Frontier 90 and Pinnacle 90 have a new seatbelt installation method that is supposed to be extremely easy. This is an update versus for the Frontier 85.

I did this exact same thing, gave the baby the britax marathon 70 to RF in and upgraded my very tall ds1 (almost 4) to the britax frontier 90 and I love it. Super easy install and very user friendly. Great seat.

And I wouldn't call it a lemon exactly, because it's a nice harness seat. But the maestro booster mode is outgrown around the same time the harness mode is outgrown, because there is no extendable headrest.

Definitely do not get the alpha omega elite "3 in 1" seat, it makes a terrible very unsafe booster due to where it places the seat belt on the child.
