Malden Mills vs. Windpro fleece- what is the difference??

I am interested in sewing up some of my own fleece covers, but am kinda ignorant to the difference between fleece types. I know that there are different weights, too. So please enlighten me, what is the difference and which is better?

Also, where can I find someone co-op ing fleece?

Thanks!

Malden Mills is a manufacturer of fleece and they are supposed to be the best. The Windpro fleece is one of their heaviest that you would use to make covers. Microfleece is for diaper inners or liners to keep baby dry.

As far as coops...not sure. There are a few on-line stores that sell fleece.

Good Luck.

There are 200 and 300 weight malden mills fleeces that make good daytime covers. Windpro can come in three weights - light, mid, and heavy. Then beyond windpro there is windblock. Here are some links to Malden Mills' site. They explain how the fabric works - not in terms of how it works for diapers but you get the picture.

Windpro is Malden Mills

Windbloc is the bulletproof stuff with some laminate in it

The weights mean how heavy/dense the weave of the fleece....think wool...felted, not felted type thing.

Not gonna find anything easily, no coops b/c Malden Mills was family owned and was recently bought out by Polartec. the new owners do not want to deal with any small people for wholesale pricing. Meaning...Under 400 rolls of 400+yards each....hard for a coop mama to do

This end up coop is trying to work with another fleece mill where she gets her cuddledry microfleece to make a windpro type fleece....we will just have to see.

You can still buy from MM online by the yard for lots more money, or if you catch something on clearance...

Thanks all! Maybe I will just bite the bullet and buy some from their website. I want to make some covers for my DS.
