How much do you spend?

I'm just curious to see if I'm spending a reasonable amount on homeschooling materials. I will have a 2nd grader and pre k this fall. I haven't actually bought anything yet.. just been gathering my ideas. What do you spend on homeschooling for your kids?

I will have spent $100 for my 2yo's preK curriculum minus consumable art supplies, this curriculum will last 2years at the pace I plan on doing it.

Re: How much do you spend?

Total spent for 1/4/6th grader will be about $350 buying used and sonlight/teaching textbooks and borrowing some readers from library when needed.

Re: How much do you spend?

This was a while ago but at that grade level I spent a couple of hundred dollars.

I spend in the thousands now that the number of children have increased and we use online classes.

Re: How much do you spend?

If you don't include music lessons, sports and other 'extras.' I am probably spending in the realm of $700 for two kids, though I expect that number to go down as I reuse materials year to year (who am I kidding, I'll still have to buy for my oldest!). But if you include music lessons, gymnastics for my daughter and martial arts for my son, two weeks of swim lessons in the summer, and art lessons from a friend (really cheap, but still costs some). We are probably looking at $1500 a year. However, we would do the extras even if we were in public school, and if times get tough we would cut them. Additionally we are enrolled in an online charter that reimburses us some of our expenses.

Re: How much do you spend?

We budget $600 a year and I've hit that for second and third grade. There have been several one time purchases (printer, microscope, and triple beam balance) that have been expensive. At the same time, I've been building up a library of non-consumables, so each subsequent kid is going to be cheaper.

Just starting to homeschool, but for 1 child in pre-k I think I'm going to spend about $100. Most of this will be for RightStart Math & I think it'll last us 2 years.

I spent right around $600 for 4 kids. I did my very best to find as much as I could used and for as cheap as possible. Some consumables I did have to buy new.

Re: How much do you spend?

I *think* somewhere around 250-ish, not more than 300 for K and 1st.

this is for curriculum only, not sports or extracurricular stuff.

I buy everything I can used or if I have to buy new, I hunt down the absolute cheapest I can find. We also use our library for A LOT!

Hardly anything. We mostly get free materials at the library, use the internet and buy second hand books at a local book store. We don't follow a curriculum
