Love the trimness and fit of gdiapers, but why aren't mine waterproof?

Are gdiapers pouches just not completely waterproof because of the "breathable" plastic? I love my gdiapers, they are so trim and look adorable on my dd, but I am so tired of the cloth covers getting damp and smelling like pee anyone else have this problem?

That's what mine did too, and why I'm not a fan of gdiapers anymore.

I think that's normal because they are vinyl and not PUL like most other diapers.

Yes they are designed to be like that. They work great if you change often (at least every 2 hours, or sooner for some babies) but not for overnight or long car trips, in my experience. I've had some success putting a fleece liner under the inserts, or using 2 gcloth so the fleece side is touching the pouch.

Yeah I'm fine with changing often during the day, and I usually use flats or prefolds to absorb more, but sometimes she falls asleep in her gdiapers and I know I will have to change her in the middle of the night if I don't want a wet bed has anyone found diapers with a similar style to gdiapers?

How old are the pouches? When we were using them I found I had to replace the pouches every 4-6 months for them to stay waterproof. I also NEVER dried them in the dryer. I loved my gdiapers though, so for me it was worth it!

Re: Love the trimness and fit of gdiapers, but why aren't mine waterproof?

I've emailed the company lots and lots of times to come out with a line of completely waterproof/"overnight" pouches, but they won't budge! I typically use the exact same inserts (prefold, gcloth, or gdiaper disposable) in a flip cover for travel or naps. Sometimes inside a fleece-lined pocket. Not exactly the same, but at least it's the same inserts!

the white pouches are only suppose to last about 6m then you are suppose to replace them. Did you get them new? If so and it hasn't been that long I would contact them. You can try rewaterproofing them with an outdoors water proofer (one that you would use say on a vinyl rain coat)

What is it about the style you like? There are tons of other all in two options out there that IMO are better absorbency-wise than g diapers.
