Re: Mommy Time Out!

We all do quiet time for 1/2 hour every day. Usually my 2yo naps 1.5 hours.
The rest are quiet either reading or doing puzzles or doing nothing for 30 mins. We set the timer. My kids are like me, they like to be busy!!
But i really discourage any talking, even to me, at this time.
Then for another 1/2 hiur they can play quietly together then we have a snack. It's short, but consistency is the key! Do it every day. Do not make any appointments or commitments during this time. Make sure it is during your baby's nap, too.

Re: Mommy Time Out!

I'm the same way get those kiddos to bed and have some down time at night . My DH travels and It's just me and 4 kids all week . It gets crazy.

Sometimes you need to stick a movie on or just go for a drive and grab a coffee .

Not having a support
System sucks ...I'm in a similar situation. All my friends live so far away! But you can do this I can't just leave my kids with people either lol so it makes things extra hard but again better safe than sorry

I get cranky if we skip quiet time. I try to have everyone go to separate rooms and do something quietly when the baby takes his afternoon nap. I need it mor than they do!

Re: Mommy Time Out!

I remember when I first read about this concept of a daily quiet time when everyone goes to their own space to do something quietly for an hour. I knew immediately I would need to do this with my kids as I am very introverted and need quiet time to recharge and just breathe!

Right now I just have a 9 month old so I have the quiet breaks of naps, but I think I need to be more intentional about using that time to relax.

Re: Mommy Time Out!

I put my kids to be at 8 every night and I go to bed around 11. I use that as "me" time. I don't do any chore or housework and just watch TV with DH or read. If I didn't have this time I would go nuts!

Thanks for all the replies. I have since implemented quite time when my baby takes his second nap. I allows me to recharge and they have come to expect it now. They know that without it mommy isn't happy...lol
