If you dunk the poo and rinse the diaper well first, the water is not really dirty at all, I have never had a stink issue with the diaper soaking bowl in the bathroom, but I guess I'll see how this works out.

And to the PP that said they dump the water in the bathtub, that's what I was thinking of doing, sounds like it will be easy-peasy

Yep!! I haven't had any stains that wouldn't stain out yet! (of course, it's still newborn poo)

I have a lid, don't think I should use it though, I know myself too well and out of sight is out of mind, I don't want to end up discovering some diapers soaking in there like a month later or something

Do you just fish em out to wash and then dump the dirty water? That is a huge ole bucket! I hope YOU don't fall in!

Re: I'm using a wet pail!

I have a damp pail method lol. I rinse each and every diaper til nearly clean and toss it into a bucket just like that but from Home Depot. I keep it in our garage. I used to spray the poopy ones with bact out but we are poop learned now so we dont usually have to deal with that. I still wash every day or every other day though. I dont get smells coming from our pail. I only put on a lid on ours to keep out flys, ants etc since our children dont get into the garage and the bucket isnt filled with fluid anyway.

I'm always afraid of a child drowning in a wet pail and don't think I'd ever have one just for that reason alone. My wet bag hangs on the back of my basement door and I just toss everything in there.
That is exactly my system, too. I also keep a regular-sized wet bag upstairs for overnight/early morning changes. I'm diapering two children (baby and toddler), so I wash almost daily, too.

I said wet, but I initially throw them in a dry diaper beside the change table, then take them downstairs to soak in the web bucket. Then I don't have to carry a bucket with water
