Day number 1!
I got enough dipes over the weekend to go ahead and get started - so today is our first day in cloth! So far, no issues... of course, we've had no poops so far, lol - so its been pretty easy.
So I have a couple of beginners questions, too... how do you all deal with poopy dipes? I mean, what is your particular process? Does anyone use disposable liners? Thanks! After wanting to start over a year ago with my first and chickening out, I'm so excited to finally be started! Advertisement

Re: Day number 1!
First of all Congrats!
We deal with the poopy with our toddler by using the flushable liners. You can just lift them out and flush everything away. Now, it's not always that easy - sometimes they do shift a little or the poopy is not as formed etc. and those we just spray off in our toilet with a diaper sprayer. I installed it myself it was so easy! My mom who CD in the 1970's loves it and wishes that she had one back then ![]()

Re: Day number 1!
We use fleece liners - we just dump poos out into the toilet and toss the dipe and liner in the pail. That's for my almost 2-yr-old, who has solid poops. With a newborn or little baby you don't even have to do that - just toss it all in the pail. Some rinse theirs in the toilet with a sprayer, but I never found it necessary.
Congratulations on starting cloth! |

Re: Day number 1!
If the poopl will just plop in the toilet I do that. If it is a messy one I spray it off with the hose into my yard or garden.

Re: Day number 1!
I use fleece lined pocket diapers, but when I occasionally use prefolds, I use fleece liners. Poop rally does just fall off of fleece. Just take the liner out of the diaper and shake the poop off into the toilet.

Re: Day number 1!
My DD still has BF poos. I spray the diaper with Zout and wipe the excess poo off with the cloth wipe that I used on her lil' bum!

Re: Day number 1!
When there was BF poo, I just sprinkled some baking soda in the diaper to combat the smell a little. Now, it's in the in between stage, and I use flushable liners, which I learned on here are washable if there's no poo. It catches the majority of it-sometimes the liner shifts as she moves. Whatever is left, I use a spatula to get off, and just drop the poo in the toilet. It's worked so far, and the diapers come out clean with no stains usually. If there are some stains, the sun has always gotten them out. I find I don't get any more up close and personal with the poo than I do when I wipe her. Good luck with everything!
