Re: what do u use to catch letdown

I had it the entire time with DS and now with DD. I wear nursing pads 24-7. But I still soak through them (3 layers of hemp even!) and I know any LC will flame me, but I actually put pressure on the other side (using my hand or arm) and it stops it from being "as bad". Otherwise I am soaking everything. I have to often use a burp rag because I have literally drowned both my babies now... and the let go and milk goes shooting across the room...

Re: what do u use to catch letdown

A washcloth or burp cloth - whatever is in arm's reach

I don't leak all the time and of course when I least expect it, I do. I think, oh she just nursed a couple hours ago, I'm not full enough to leak and then I look down and my shirt is all wet. And the times when I think I'm going to leak and put a washcloth there, then I don't. At least it's good entertainment for my toddler, who thinks my wet shirts and the baby's spit up are the most interesting things in the world

I use breast pads or I just grab a PF and that works just fine

In public, nursing pads. At home, usually just a burp cloth.

Re: what do u use to catch letdown

I have to wear nursing pads from about 36 weeks pregnant till my baby is about 8-9 months old.
I used to use disposable nursing pads but this last time they really irritated my skin so I bought a couple pairs of Lana wool nursing pads and they are AWESOME!! They soak up a ton more milk than regular pads and they don't smell, they stay dry feeling and I don't have to change them after every nursing. I would highly recommend them to anyone. When I have my next baby I'm going to get the extra thick wool pads for those first few weeks since I leak soooo much milk.

Curious, what does a LC say about compression. I do it a lot. Is it BAD?

This is why I always wear a bra with nursing pads! At night when I'm braless, I use a prefold to catch my letdown on the other side.

Nursing pads, and at first when my let down was really bad I would have to put a towel down on the bed while I nursed baby laying down.

Also a little tip, when you feel let down push put pressure on your other breast across your nipple, it won't be as bad.

I use nursing pads or one of my clean cloth wipes tucked in my bra...I have a crazy messy let down and that keeps me from getting the "bad milk" smell...
