Maybe a dumb carseat question

My husband has a small, older car so we always use mine. But I'm wondering if we can put DD's carseat forward facing in the front seat since he doesn't have airbags. It's really a tight squeeze to get the seat in the back and DH has a really hard time buckling her in. I'll have my car and DD and DH will need to meet me somewhere. He has a stickshift and I can't drive it, otherwise we'd just switch cars for the day.

If you have the option of using the back seat... do so.

What might be allowed is different than what is safest. Safest practice is to put kids in the backseat.

You CAN put an FFing seat in the front with or with out an air bag. Thats if and only if you absolutely have to. I personally never would but it can be done.

If there is an active air bag you must be sure the seat is properly installed with seat belt locked (or with locking clip) and you need to push the actual seat as far back as possible to keep it as far away from the air bag as you can.

There is no airbag. The car is from the 80's. I think the seat will fit in the back but I am not totally sure. The bucket infant seat barely fit and this is a convertible seat - a Britax. Well, we'll try it in the back and if it doesn't fit, I guess she'll have to enjoy the view from the front. Thanks for the replies.

DH has a 73 VW beetle and we always put Austin in the front seat when we ride in his car
