Re: VAX or NO????

What you said about Polio being renamed is Partially true. Basically a HUGE cause for the decline in Polio was NOT vaxing but actually resetting the standards of what Polio actually was. Now it has been renamed and placed into MANY categories but the POLIO vaccination does not protect you against bacterial meningitis. It protects you from Poliomyelitis which has been eradicated from the northern hemisphere since 1979 hth

Re: VAX or NO????

My DD has had it all. My DS will have them all except for the Chicken Pox. There is no guarantee he won't get it, even with the vax. That being said, I have even considered a chicken pox party just to get it over with!

Re: VAX or NO????

I really struggled with this one - but have (surprisingly) decided to do all the vax, but spread them out.

Yes, there are many diseases that have been all but eradicated in the US, diptheria for example, however, my husband and I would like to travel with the kids and were we to go back to Central America, the kids when then need those vaccines anyway.

When you spread out the vaccines you can see which ones are affecting your child more easily. So if your child has a reaction to the DTaP the first time, you can elect not to have the booster. The risk of autism has been stopped with the use of thermiserol (sp?) free vax.

All in all, I really trust my ped. and he knows my usual stance on medications for myself, so is respectful of my choices for the baby.
