Re: Burning question for Vaxing parents
I believe I am vaxed. Other than the ones for illnesses like chicken pox and flu, I think adults only get tetanus shots every 10 year or so. I had one while pg with ds#2. How do those of you who don't vax put your kids in daycares or public school bc they are required. No flaming please, it is just a question. I can understand why you don't vax and it is your choice. I am just curious about what happens when it is required.

Children will forget your presents. They will always remember your presence.

However, I had not fully decided not to vaccinate still looking into all of the information and weighing out the risk and benefits for both sides. But if I dont vax school and daycare wont be a problem.

Re: Burning question for Vaxing parents
Yes, I am fully vaxed...we don't do the flu shot though, and neither do my kiddos, no varicella for me either, b/c I had a BAD case of the Chicken Pox when I was 6! I have had a tetanus booster in the last 10 years and that is the one I worry most about! (you need a booster every 10 years)

Re: Burning question for Vaxing parents
The only vax I personally am not up to date on is the new adult DTAP, because of the whooping cough outbreak. I did get a flu shot this year to keep myself healthy. I was also breastfeeding at the time too.
My DD is not up to date on all her vaxes and will not be until she is much older. My sil has two autistic children and we do know that some autistic children are that way because of pure genetics (some non vaxing moms have autistic children so it is not purley the vaxines) and there is no way to proove or disproove at this point (they are still doing research) that some autistic children have been driven over the edge through vaxines. There will be many arguments on either side, but the doctors aren't 100% sure themselves right now. My theory is that it is a little bit of both genetics and vaxines and although my DD is 8 months and has met social milestones so far to indicate she is not autistic (I also worked with autistic children for 8 years) I am still not going to take any chances. Since we live in an agricultural area with many immigrants who are not properly vaxinated, we have selectivly vaxinated with full aproval of our doc who is the Autisim spectrum disorder specialist in our group. He is not a DAN doctor, but that is where I am going to go to get the MMR seperated and spaced out. I am sure that is too much info, but that is what we are doing. |

I don't think the question is whether vaxing is right or wrong. It's about being educated. So many, myself included, just vax because everyone else does. That's the wrong reason. Whether a family chooses to vax or not it should be an educated decision. My dh and I are both fully vaxed from childhood- including small pox. We would only get a tetanus booster now if we worked around manure or got cut while dealing with manure- since that's how you get tetanus, not from rusty nails, dirt, etc.

Re: Burning question for Vaxing parents
I don't vax anymore, but I am/was not updated on my vax's when I did.
Adults are supposed to get all boosters every 10 years but they never actively advertise that, though I suspect soon they will.

Re: Burning question for Vaxing parents
I haven't read the other replies.
I don't vax (I don't know if I will, I am undecided) but I AM FULLY VAXED. I used to work in a hospital and it was required for employment. |
