"Surviving Motherhood" on TLC?

Anybody watch it?

I don't watch it religiously or anything, but it's interesting...the episodes I have seen have been fairly practical, and they seem to get a broad spectrum of moms on there which is great; I've seen moms with breastfeeding toddlers, cosleeping, homeschooling all represented, along with regular "mainstream" moms. They do a good job of not making ANYBODY look like a "bad mom", the message is clear that everybody is just doing their best...nice to see...

I haven't watched it yet, I'll have to remember to have the DVR catch it for me!

Re: "Surviving Motherhood" on TLC?

It's neat, they get a group of moms together -- a new group each week -- and every day they focus on one particular mother's issue/problem/challenge with parenting...the other moms give her advice, and they also have input from a professional who specializes in that area (child developement, nutrition, sleep, whatever). It's interesting. Makes you realize how much moms around the country have in common.

Sort of reminds me of DS...except they're talking face-to-face.

Re: "Surviving Motherhood" on TLC?

The few times I have watched it, it has irritated me to death. There's always a mom who has trouble getting her little one to sleep on his own, and against all her natural instincts, she is convinced by other people to let the baby CIO. They make it seem like it's the only option available.
So anyway, I don't care for it.

Really? LOL Must have missed that episode...I saw one sleep one, but they didn't suggest CIO, just creating a bedtime routine, etc...it was for a toddler.

Yeah, these episodes were for babies under 1 year. Not saying that it's wrong to suggest CIO, it's just that these mamas didn't want to do it, but are strongly encouraged to. I really like baby shows, though, normally. TLC is one of my fave stations.

yeah honestly it annoys the crap outta me... to *me* it sounds all like advice i've already been told a million times...the one i really like is 'house of babies' that is a birthing center and goes through different situations that can happen at one
