after 5 months of BFing and my nipples are suddenly sore during nursing (and sometimes after) they also get white after nursing ....any ideas whats going on?

Check to be sure that your lo's latch is still good. I know I did the SAME Thing don't remember what age but I got sooo sore and then it just went away. I also got this way when dd was starting to get her first teeth which she didn't do until she was 15 months. Anyway I just tried to be sure that the latch was VERY good everytime and eventually it went away. Also I think that some ppl get sore around AF time, have you gotten it back?

are you itchy at all- it could be thrush- especially if either of you were recently on antibiotics- check your baby's mouth for white spots but even if there aren't any- it doesn't mean it isn't thrush- http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/...resources.html

I was just getting ready to suggest thrush. I just found out that was what was wrong with us! My little guy is two months old, and at his checkup yesterday, his pedi asked if my nipples had been hurting lately... I thought it was an odd question, but yes they had. Turns out he has thrush, and so do my poor boobies! I didn't even notice his mouth was white! Try some gv and see if it helps!
