they have been soaking in the sink with eco-friendly dish soap (that's all we have) but so far, not working. wonder if i bring out the big guns and get some dawn and scrub them more? so far the toothbrush hasn't worked either. someone suggested engine cleaner and brake cleaner but i just want any of that nastiness on their if they're going to be worn ago. grrrrr.

In my experience, simple green works on anything and it is bio-friendly.

I would use Dawn-- its what they use on animals after oil spills. My DH used to do animal rescue, and the humane society vet suggested it to get paint off a squirrel.

Just be ready to rinse, rinse, rinse after.

Oh, and I'd wash on warm or hot, since it'll help cut grease.

if you can get some mechanics soap it works great for grease stains, I use my DH's mechanics bar soap on grease stains i rub the bar right on it them use a nail brush to work it in then wash it as usual in the machine , gets it out every time .
