Poll: Cost of getting started

What do you think your "starter" stash cost? I just started last week, and I've spent 500 bucks! I will have enough for 2 days I think, plus other misc supplies. (wet bags, mini shower, pail liner, etc.) What did you spend? How many diapers did you start with?

Re: Poll: Cost of getting started

When I started I got 10 BG 2.0 and that ran me about 175....that was it. I had a laundry bag already I don't use a sprayer (yet)....they came with inserts etc. That was enough for my 11 month old to go 2ish days with. Since then my LO has had sensitivity to the BG suede cloth and we have had to do DE instead.

Stash now looks like....

2 BSWW
2 WW
10 DE
5 BG 2.0 OS
1 HH
4 PF

and I just ordered a new wet bag too....so when we started it was under $200 but now (like a month later) total cost somewhere around.... $250? maybe $275?

Re: Poll: Cost of getting started

ummmmm....for about a month I didn't spend a dime except for shipping. I traded for everything that I could, then I saved up enough to start getting "pretty" dipes! Most all our stash is used, and not very much in EUC, but still very functional. We have our at home "well-loved" stash, and then we have our showy stash for when we leave the house!
We do have a very small stash:
- 8 PFs
- 4 random WAHM fitteds
- 3 random WAHM AIO
- 4 FB
- 1 SB pocket
- 1 JamTot Berry Plush
- 1 Dragonfly Minky cover
- and our PRIZED fluff: 1 Gracefull Baby Design twirl skirty!
plus tons of inserts, doublers, linners and wipes

Honestly...shipping and all, and the GBD splurge....maybe $150...at the most

Too bad I didn't find out about DS until after I bought my dipes.

Re: Poll: Cost of getting started

My initial stash was about 10 bum geniuses and a few random pocket and AIO's...plus 2 dozen wipes and a couple wet bags. It probably cost me about $200....but in the couple months since then I have spent probably closer to $500 total as I discovered fitteds and wool. I probably have enough diapers to last me 4-5 days but I do laundry every other day.

Re: Poll: Cost of getting started

My starter stash (for twins) ran me around $400 and it was all brand new (didn't know about DS for several months!). It was:

26 Kissaluv's 0's
10 BSSW's
3 sm FB's with MOE inserts
3 sm Bumkins AIO's
a hanging washable bag
a sm wet bag for the dipe bag
40 cloth wipes

There was a store near my folks home, and the bulk of that was in a package deal they offered to get you started. I had to add more kiss's and BSSW's because I was having twins. It was MORE than enough for the first couple months til they fit and we shifted to all pockets!

I started with $150 and went with the cheapest way to go...prefolds and covers.

Re: Poll: Cost of getting started

My dipe stash will easily go 3 days.I wash though every day but in case of something more important I want to have enough
24 Snappi new style $168.00
6 snappis Free with the dipes
3 shorties-had more but ds didn't like the others $45.00 for all 3 new
I have some others that I have traded for but no pockets and aio's in my stash! I also have some that I have held onto that are my favorites...Now for sale
I never have seen the need to waste money on a dipe sprayer which my kiddos would probably use to wash the bathroom!
Dipe pail is a large garbage pail with a lid the pail liner a simple $3.00 nylon laundry bag from walmart-those suckers hold up super!
$500 for 2 days worth of dipes
