I'm amazed that grandparents would make these choices w/o consulting the parents!

Wow, I would be mad if someone pierced dd's ears without me knowing.

One question I have is did the grandma just pretend to be babies mom? I thought a parent would have to give signed consent for something like that. I guess I could be wrong since dd's ears won't be pierced for several years.

My MIL decided that my breastmilk wasn't enough and started giving my son formula when he was with her!! I had plenty of milk pumped and (I was still working at this time) could have left work at anytime to go home and feed him if she did think that she didn't have enough milk to feed him. The worst part was just the day before I was telling her how blessed I felt that Guy didn't have to have formula!!

To this day I HATE leaving him with her.

I would be livid and most likely not let the offender watch my child alone again. That is a huge violation of trust in my book. Not only have they injured my child but those mall peircing places are filthy! I had my ears peirced at them several times before I was educated and got nasty infections at the peircings EVERY time. If my family brought my freshly peirced child to suprise me I would have immediately taken the earings out and walked off the job. I could not have left my child with them anymore. As far as the formula supplementing thing just mentioned I would have lost it! I can not stand the idea of leaving my child in someone elses care because of these issues. If you are not the one with your child all the time someone else will be making decisions for them (good or bad). My DH and I have choosen to make sacrifices for me to stay home so we can be the involved decision makers in DS's life.
