Question for co-sleepers

I co-sleep with my dd at night and I love it but I am having trouble figuring out what to do at nap times. She doesnt roll over yet but shes very close and I am afraid to let her sleep in our bed for naps because I cant lay with her and Im afraid she will roll off the bed. In our bed she will take good two to three hour naps during the day but I have tried to put her in a playpen during the day for naps and she usually either wakes up as soon as I lay her down or within like 15 minutes. Any suggestions on what I should do? TIA!!

Re: Question for co-sleepers

Well, what we did was move dd's crib (which was just taking up space in the kids' bedroom) into our room and took off one side to make a sidecar. We put the crib against the wall and pushed our bed up against the side with the siderail removed. I also find that DD naps better in our room so Ive been putting her in the crib part and for now thats pretty secure.. she'd have a LONG way to roll before she fell off the bed.

Re: Question for co-sleepers

We have alot of pillows on our bed so I made a barrier on each side of the bed and then some on the floor "just in case". It worked for us. You also might try putting a few extra blankets in your playpen, she might be waking up because the matress is not as soft as your bed.

Our box spring on our bed broke soon after dd was born so now we have 2 mattresses on the floor and it works out great.

Re: Question for co-sleepers

DS rolled off our bed when he was barricaded with only pillows, so with DD we slept on a futon mattress on our floor so if she rolled off she rolled onto the floor. For the baby on its way I got these:

I am not sleeping on the floor again (lol, we just got a new bed about 4 months ago, and not going back, think I'm getting too old for it!) so we did this to make sure baby didn't roll off. I had DD roll off our bed even when I was in it, so I definitely wanted a barrier of some sort.
I got ours off of Ebay.

Re: Question for co-sleepers

DS takes naps and starts off the night on a mattress in his room. We moved him to the mattress after he rolled off the bed one day. I was much more relaxed when there was no risk of that happening again!

Yup, we used pillows too. Works fine, later on we pushed the bed against a wall and got a mesh bedrail on one side (when dd started crawling and would wake up and start crawling before she was fully awake). We're back to just pillows now.

Re: Question for co-sleepers

I stressed about Ella napping and falling off the bed so much till I finally put the mattress on the floor. Fabulous. She actually rolled off the mattress the other night (she's 18 months) and I just picked her up, snuggled her in and we went back to sleep. So much better!
