Question Baking on the grill

Has anyone ever used their gas grill to bake something? It's so hot here and I don't want to heat up the house. I thought maybe I could "bake" meals on the grill. Like meatloaf, casseroles, stuff like that. Is this possible to do?

I don't see why not. I'd do it on low. When living at home with my parents I made pizza on the grill. Put it on a cookie sheet and made it a square shape but it turned out fine. I'll do some researching for you and see if I can come up with anything

Ok I have a couple links.

Baking Bread on the Grill

and

Meatloaf on the Grill

From what I've gathered so far is that things cook much faster AND you have to make sure your baking dish, whatever it is you're using, will stand up to the heat. We do pockets a lot. We put veggies in foil with olive oil and spices, we do hobo dinners where you put a hamburger, or chicken (or fish) in foil with veggies and spices and cook. That kind of stuff. I would like to get away from the aluminum foil though.

We don't have a gas grill, but a kettle grill, and we made pizza, meatloaf, and a few cakes on the grill. We were determined to keep the kitchen cool by not using the oven during the 100 degree weather here. I also used the microwave for some baking.
