Re: What do you do with stuffed animals?

Our organization www.sierrasbears.org take bears in new or like new condition and gives them to families that have a child die due to stillbirth, prematurity, SIDS, or anything else up to 1 year of age.

When we get other animals donated or bears we can't use (too small, too large, too happy) we donate them to the local firestation or to Children's Services. Children's Services gives them to kids who are removed from their homes and the fire station gives them to kids when there are fires, car accidents, any time they have to respond on a call where kids are present.

Re: What do you do with stuffed animals?

I pared down DS's stuffed animals to maybe about a dozen that he actually plays with. The rest got packed away. The ones that we're keeping out are stored in one of those mesh pop-up hampers.

My boys have an underbed storage box with wheels. The lid has the latches that they can open by themselves. That way the animals stay clean, and it limits the number they can keep. And they do love their friends!

We fit 3 storage boxes under the twin bed. 2 of them are for costumes/dressup type stuff.

The other good thing is that they forget about them sometimes for a couple days so we don't constantly have stuff pulled out all over the house. But when they want them they are always there!

Carter has no interest in his. they are in a big wicker basket with a lid and I think they will stay there for quite some time until he shows interest or they go to charity. He does like his waldorf dolls though

Re: What do you do with stuffed animals?

We have a shelf hung around the top of dd's room, about a foot and a half lower than the ceiling. It's one of those simple press-board shelves with brackets from meijer. All the stuffed animals currently out of rotation live up on the shelf. That way she can see them, but they're not in the way. We also have a large colony of them living on her bed - dd doesn't use blankets at night - she's much more of a pack animal than that - she buries herself in a pile of stuffed animals and sleeps that way. It's too cute to see.

We have an over the door shoe hanger thing... it's supposed to hold like 12 pairs of shoes I think, but it holds 24 animals.

Re: What do you do with stuffed animals?

My DD has too many stuffed animals too. Most of them are mine though. I had a small army of dolls and stuffed animals as a kid that I still have, plus when me and my DH were dating he got me a stuffed animal or 2 for every holiday or special day, so I have a decent collection. I have since then put them in DD's room for her to play with so that they aren't just collecting dust somewhere. The only problem is that they are all in her closet and in an upright like animal shaped hamper in her room, so I need to get one of those stuffed animal holders or some more space for a few big tupperware tubs full of them. LOL!

We don't have that many, because they drive me crazy. The ones that we do have are in a hammock in the corner of DS's room.
