Cloth or G Diapers? I am going to switch, but can't choose..advice please!

Hi! I am new to this site and thought that I could get some good advice here. I recently saw a video and read all about how much waste disposable diapers create. It is disgusting to say the least! I have been thinking about G Diapers as they look easy and environmentally friendly - or cloth (there are some mighty cute diaper covers out there!). Do any of you have any opinion either way about this? Please give me any advice you may have.

TIA!

You could do what most of us who use G Diapers do and use prefolds or boosters in the G Diaper cover & liner instead of the "flushable" sposie part.

Question Re: Cloth or G Diapers? I am going to switch, but can't choose..advice please!

Now I have a question. I've been thinking about adding G Dipes to our stash to use strictly when we are out and about and traveling. Why use them with prefolds vs just a prefold and regular cover? Isn't the flushable liner the reason for buying?

You can just use the PF inside of the liner that they have. There is a flushable insert that goes into the liner (that's actually not that flushable if you ask me - takes some doing to get it to flush & generally causes some clogging)...

LOL...so no flushing those then! At least they don't sit in the landfills for hundreds of years!

I was thinking of buying them as a cover as I love aplix and these close in the back making them harder for busy little hands to undo. I would suggest getting the starter pack of g diapers and a few pfs as you can use the pfs in the g diaper covers and get a bit of a feel for both! HTH

I wanted to use them as covers for the same reason.

I got started cding by getting a starter pack of the gdipes. I was not comfortable with the flushing, we have a septic and I've heard about problems with clogs. I had some gerber prefolds that I used and they worked well. Infant prefolds work even better than the flushable inserts IMO. Not sure about the nighttime thing, I think they would leak. I haven't taken the plunge yet, still in the sposies at night
