Have you tried Bac-Out?? I got it while I was at Whole Foods just b/c I rarely go there and though WTH! My diapers smelled just a little bit cleaner afterwards. My bGs usually have a funky "nonsmell" smell to them but they actually smelled good to me! LOL It could have just been a coinkydink but I'm gonna keep on using it!! LOL

I currently rinse out each diaper before tossing it in the bin. This totally prevents ammonia from being created. I was so overwhelmed by the stench of it before, even after a few hours. It's a bit more work, but seems to be helping.

Re: Yes its another "I want to quit" thread

My general rule is if diapers smell out of the washer or dryer, then you are not using enough detergent.

If diapers smell fine out of washer and dryer but smell like wet dog after peed in, then you may be using too much detergent.

If your diapers were fine for a long period and you really haven't changed anything and it is a strong odor...it could be a mineral buildup from the hard water. I suggest a calgon water softening treatment to remove the minerals and get your diapers smelling better. I use 1/2 the bottle's recommended amount on a full load of diapers. Then follow it up with a complete detergent free wash cycle.

Let us know how it goes,
Sarah

I'd say go with cotton and wool all the way. No stinkies here and no sposies for 22 months!!
