Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
My FIL is a family doc. A while back he and another doc decided to test the whole heartrate predicting method. After a couple months they compared notes and they each figured about 80% accuracy. Pretty impressive for an old wives' tale, they thought.
Then they compared DETAILED notes... one doc was doing it boys high girls low, the other was doing it girls high boys low.

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
Sorry mamma we did a project disproving this 'theory' in stat class in college. It unfortunately is right just as often as it's wrong.

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
This never worked for me. I have three dds and the first had a very fast hb the whole way through... but this last one was much slower. Normal range, but slower. I asked my MW about it and she said it just depends on if they are awake, asleep, if you just ate, etc.

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
Oh- and I thought all babies' heartbeats slowed down the larger they got. I will have to check on that.

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
Am I the only one who has no clue what the baby's heartrate is?
I just can't keep track of all the numbers. It's hard enough for me to remember birthday/weights/lengths etc.

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
My sons hb was 165 and yes, he is a boy!!
My dd's was 145 and yes, she is a girl!! This one is always around 150ish and it's another girl (took a few peeks so we are certain). Sorry but I would not trust that, wait for an ultrasound or the big day to be certain.

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
My girls had high heart rates (160s), but guess what? My boy's was even higher at 175! This baby in utero right now is consistently in the 150s...I don't know what to guess!

Re: Telling gender by the heartbeat
The twins were always so close they thought they had the same heartbeat and they are boy/girl. I wouldn't trust it either.
