Re: this is kinda stupid, but...
if you add banana peppers or jalepeno peppers to the inside of your sandwich that is yummy, and a piece of turkey or ham along with that is great too.

Re: this is kinda stupid, but...
i eat several grilled cheese sandwiches per week, and my son loves them! i make them several different ways, most of the time i use a great quality bakery swiss loaf, but i will use pretty much any bread we have at the time also.
my favorite is: bakery swiss lightly buttered on the outside fontina cheese cheddar cheese also: swiss bread/ham/cheddar, wheat/turkey/cheddar/mozzarella, swiss bread/prosciutto/fontina when i add veggies i LOVE: swiss bread sliced tomato dill pickles cheddar and swiss bread sliced tomato sliced avacado cheddar

Re: this is kinda stupid, but...
I love adding a slice of tomato and some sliced avocado to my grilled cheese, but my all time favorite is a broccoli-garlic grilled cheese:
1) Finely chop a small handful of broccoli, and one clove of garlic. 2) Lightly brown garlic in a little olive oil, for about 30 seconds, then add the broccoli, and about 1/4-1/2 cup water. Cover with a lid and steam for a few minutes (until water is gone and/or broccoli is tender). Uncover and cook out any remaining water. While broccoli is steaming, lightly butter one side each of two slices whole grain bread, and slice sharp/extra sharp cheddar cheese. 3) Empty broccoli and garlic into a small bowl and place bread in the still hot pan, buttered side down. Top one slice of bread with a layer of cheese, then the broccoli, and a little more cheese (to keep everything stuck together). Top with the other slice of bread and brown both sides. It's really very quick to do because the broccoli doesn't take long at all to chop, and cooks supper quick because it's in such small pieces, and all the other prep is done while the broccoli is cooking. With the veggies, cheese and whole grains, this is a pretty balanced meal for a vegetarian like me! Darn... now I have a craving and no broccoli in the house!
