Getting the hang of PF's

My snappi's finally came yesterday so we've tried using our prefolds a few times on DS and it seems really hard. How long does it take to get the hang of it? The rise seems perfect for him but the leg openings are really loose. I've looked at all the prefold folding stickies and I'm having a hard time. Plus, DS is a total wiggle worm which makes it even harder. I was thinking of using PF's for around the house and keeping a few AIO's for DH and for when we go out but I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble. How long did it take you to master the folding/snappi-ing?

Re: Getting the hang of PF's

For me (I don't use them all that much) it's still hit and miss. Sometimes it seems like I get a perfect fit and the next time I'll have to try 3 times before it fits how I want it to! It's worth it though, I think- there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of folding your own dipe!

Re: Getting the hang of PF's

It took me a month of very part time prefold use to really get the hang of it. Try the jelly roll fold. I find the best way to get really tight leg opening is the roll the legs in tightly, and make sure the roll goes up the back more then just the part for the legs (oh my, that makes no sense!)

Re: Getting the hang of PF's

There is definitely a learning curve involved.

When I first started cd'ing my ds, I bought a few prefolds to try and could never get a hang of it. So I moved towards pockets and aio's and fitteds.

Now with this one, I've found the prefold love again and right now am exclusively using prefolds, and can do it great.

I find I can get a much tighter fit with pins, but that's just me, I can't honestly say I spent a lot of time trying! Snappis are great for a pf with a cover, but I do coverless and can't stand the snappis ripping holes on my clothes when I'm holding DS!
