Re: How many pairs of longies do you *really need* for the fall/winter?

I use it almost exclusively when at home, but we do have and use regular clothes and I have some MEAFs that I use along with those.

I think I'm going to limit myself to enough yarn for four pairs (two for each) and go from there. That'll give me 6 pairs for each kid. That should be plenty.

Yarn is just so pretty, though. I'd buy it all if I could!

I think I could do it with 4 pairs.. since they take so long to dry completely. I am aiming for 8 though, one pair per day, 1 sink of wool wash, plus one pair to wear while they are all drying.

I found that I didn't use longies much last winter for dd, but she was crawling so this winter might be different. We only have a few pairs, will wait till the season's closer to buy a bunch if I decide to use them more

Re: How many pairs of longies do you *really need* for the fall/winter?

Well Tharen wears wool pretty much exclusively. Since they are also his clothes he has several pairs. I made him cheap recycled ones (bought the sweaters at a Garage sale for a quarter each and sewed them up) and then bought some nice ones to wear out. I also have a bunch of yarn to crochet up to make him more. He is getting by right now with 5 that he wears out of the house and two that he only wears at home (shorties). But when we are out I back them up with a thin wool wrap. He also wears some wool wraps at home if that is what I grab at diaper time. But we are just barely getting by, he needs more clothes to wear out of the house. We were supposed to have two more pairs but the wham I bought them from never sent them and isn't returning my email now. Luckily I have a few bp's and soakers to use as back up under regular shorts for outings. I am hoping to not have as much trouble for winter since I am making my own. I will have alot more longies than I have shorties. I definately recomend making some that will stand up to outside play. Cheap wool fabric or recycled longies are great playground and backyard clothes. Also lots of mom's like fleece pants for diaper covers for playtime. They can be machine washed and they hold up really well to hard use.

I say you can get by with 3 pairs for each child! 3 is what we are going to have to do for Kri! But I would love to have 7 or more! LOL It would just be real convenient with washing and stuff!

I bought a bunch of pairs of the Old Navy performance fleece pants for Sofia for last winter & t-shirts to match them They were less than $10 a pair, but I dont think they are going to fit her this winter

I already made one pair in GN earthy tones. I will probably make 2, maybe 3 more.

If you were doing something like us (wool except for naps and bedtime, pockets then) you could probably get away with 2 or 3 pair per child. 4 is a little more comfortable. For a little while I only had 3 pair for BOTH girls (twins, wear the same size). It sucked.

My preference is to have 5-8 pair per child!
