5 1/2 weeks and spotting

Hi everyone! I don't post much. Kinda new to this...But I was wondering if any of you spotted early in your pregnancy, what happened, and what your doctor said?

I found out Friday I am expecting, had brownish little spotting off and on all weekend. I woke up at 3 AM Monday morning and had a pink toilet...I put on a pad and at 5 AM had a little biggar than a nickle spot. At 7:30 AM just when I wiped. Went to dr, had an US and there was a sac. at 5 weeks she couldnt find a FHR but wasn't worried because of how early it was. I start this Saturday with bloodwork every 4 days to get hormone levels. We waited until Saturday because our insurance kicks in that day. I have been spotting off and on all week. The colors change, but I have had no substantial bleeding. I haven't filled a pad the entire time, but it still worries me.

I just want to know what anyone else's experiences have been. We really want this baby and waiting is so longgggggggg!

Thanks!

Lauri, I actually GUSHED early on, like at 8 or 9 weeks, and thought I had lost the baby. However, the doc gave me an US and found that it was alive & kicking...put me on bedrest for 3 days. It was bright red blood...it ended soon after bedrest, but then happened again at like 18 weeks (but this time dark...). Well, after 4 US and twice on bedrest, the baby was fine. I found out that people spot more than I thought.

Just take it easy...don't overdo...and say a prayer or two that the baby is fine. I'll do the same for ya.

Brown spotting is ok my ob said, because it is just old blood. Some women have their periods through most of their pregnancy too. Hope everything turns out ok for you

Hey I just wanted to chime in and say that about 5 weeks or so it is normal to bleed/spot a little it is called implantation bleeding look it up nothing to worry about but if you are worried or have had problems with pregnancies ask your Dr. about progesterone. I believe this is what work for me! Good Luck!

My SIL had a full fledged period each month until month 7. This is why it never occured to her that she could be pg and didn't find out until 6 months along when she couldn't get rid of her headaches.

I have heard that blood that is not bright red is normal however everyone is different. I say just keep getting checked out. Good luck and congrats!!

With my youngest, I bled almost constantly until about 17 wks. I was SOOO worried all the time. I had tons of U/S and they couldn't figure out where the blood was coming from, because she was fine...

Upon closer inspection (LOL) I have a vein on my cervix that is considered a bleeder. That stupid vein! I spotted a couple times with London, and was SOO scared, and I vaugely remember them saying something about the vein on my cervix, but forgot all about it until after it was brought up again with Robynne.

I hope it's just a vein that's giving you troubles, mama!
