Breakfast
I know it's the most important meal of the day, and yet, it's probably our worst. We eat cereal. Not much else. I'm sick of it. My one year old hardly eats at breakfast. Nurses only...which is fine, but I would like her to start branching out in the am. Help me with good, easy, yummy breakfast ideas! We have no allergies or food aversions. We eat meat and dairy. And fruit. And chocolate. LOL...wait, that's just my addiction talking.

Re: Breakfast
I'm not a breakfast person. I usually only eat yogurt and rice krispies. So i'll make a big batch of stuff and freeze or keep in refrigerator for my kids cause they get tired of cereal. I hate frying bacon. So when i do cook it i fry the entire pack and my kids will eat on it all week as BLTs or with breakfast. I'll also make a big batch of pancakes and freeze some so i can just take some out when they want one. A big batch of biscuit gravy last us for about 3 breakfasts. Or they love eggs with toast. Also grits are a favorite for my kids. My kids usually eat some fruit w/breakfast as well. I usually have waffles in my freezer too.
My dh makes breakfast burritos alot. My kids won't eat them but he loves them and he'll add all kinds of stuff...eggs, peppers, tomatos, onions, cheese, brocoli, little bits of bacon. |

Re: Breakfast
On a typical day, dd and I split a banana, then have either pancakes or eggs and toast. If I remember to buy bacon or sausage at the store...then we have that too...
I have a cup of coffee, and dd has a sippy of milk.

Re: Breakfast
A favorite around here lately has been a sausage/egg casserole. You put it together the night before and stick it in the fridge. Just pop in the oven in the morning. To feed 8, I have to double this recipe.
3 slices of bread, cubed (great way to use up stale bread) 3 eggs 1 cup milk 1 cup cheese 1/2 lb of sausage, cooked and crumbled Just mix everything together, bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or so. You can also make oatmeal in the crockpot at night so it's ready in the morning. And most breakfast items can be made ahead and frozen. Muffins, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, pancakes, waffles. They can all be made ahead and frozen for later. |
