Disect my schedule, please.

I've been doing some research about vaccines and know that I definetly want to be selective and delay. I've put together somewhat of a schedule to show my doctor at her 2 mos check up but would like your input as a lot of you have more insight than I do. Please let me know if I've spaced to closely or forgotten one or put an unnecesary one. TIA

HiB – 6 mos, 9, 12 mos

Ipv- polio- 6 mos, 9 mos, 12 mos

DTAP- start sometime after 12 mos

MMR- at 4 yrs, separate each dose

No chicken pox

Hep b- when teen

Pneumococal – have not researched

Have you watched Dr. Jay Gordons seminar on Vaccinations.. Its really informative, and helped me figure out what was important to us...

I found it and will buy it as soon as I get some pp. The more I research the more I second guess myself.

Where'd you find it? I totally understand your second-guessing yourself. I'm curious how you decided upon the delayed schedule you have worked out for your DC. I still haven't vacc'd my 21-month-old DS for MMR or CP. I really don't think CP are that big of a deal, but my DH is concerned that with fewer people declining the vacc that the chances of our DS actually getting CP are slim and that if does get them in adulthood it will be REALLY bad. I'm holding off on MMR, but I have no idea how long is ideal, so I'm especially curious how you struck upon age 4 for that one. Thanks!

Re: Disect my schedule, please.

I decided on 4 through reading others suggestions. The later the better but I am thinking that I want it done before Kindergarten. It's not set in stone or anything and I do need to read more. I thought 6 months would be good to start the other vacs due to babies not being able to release toxins before then properly. I'm not sure about everything though. I'm going to watch the recommended DVD. It's on Amazon for 25 and free shipping.

Well, I don't do any vaxes, so if you ask me they're all unnecessary. Rotateq (rotovirus) was left out, but not all ped's do it. And Gardasil (cervical cancer vaccine) Hib- not a threat if bf'd and they are home.....I never researched much after that since that's what we do so if dc is in daycare or ff I can't help you there. IPV - wild polio has been irradicated in the u.s. for nearly 3 decades now. You CAN catch polio from the polio vaccine (OPV, not IPV though) so it's possible to catch it but IPV does not protect against OPV strains. DTaP - Diptheria is very very very rare. IIRC less than 10 cases in the entire u.s/year. Tetanus - is in my frank opinion....a worthless one. Even if you catch it naturally, you are still not considered immune.....so how is a vaccine supposed to? Pertussis - not a threat if over 6 months of age, and you are not considered fully immune until you receive 3 doses....the earliest that could be is 6mo. MMR - All are fairly harmless if you ask me....a lot of people compare them to CP.

Re: Disect my schedule, please.

I had kinda thought the same as you, but now as dd is very close to 6 mnths, I JUST DON'T WANT TO DO IT!!!! So I have no idea what I am going to do. I am leaning more towards what Kanga said. FWIW, from everything I have read, it is getting hard to get the MMR seperate...you may want to ask your DR. if they can get it that way. Just go with your gut when your dd is old enough to start getting them, if you feel likesomething is not right, don't do it!!! you can always do it next time!

Re: Disect my schedule, please.

I have a 6 yr old dd and I am deciding wether or not to vax w/ the Guardasil. I was going back and forth w/ it with a friend of mine who's in nursing school and did a paper on HPV. What she was telling me was making sense, but I still am unsure.
