Re: Would you donate?

I always wished I could have found people to donate to us but like with you we didn't have a "medical reason". I just couldn't make/produce milk. If I had some I'd give it to you. I've been there and it hurts. I cried giving my children formula.

Re: Would you donate?

yes I would donate, in fact I'd love an information anyone has about finding somone locally to donate to... I'm not due until Feb, but I donated to a milk bank last time and I would love to be able to donate again. but I want so much to know who my milk is going to and that its helping a baby I know to thrive

Re: Would you donate?

I can & I have. Most of my milk has gone to an adoptive crack baby but some went to a mama who just couldnt pump more than 1/2 oz at a time.

The only time I wouldnt donate was to someone who just refused to pump b/c its too hard, too much work etc.

well, its hard and alot of work for me too.

Re: Would you donate?

Yes, I would have, but didn't even realize it was an option!! When my son was a baby (nearly 6 years ago) he refused to latch on, being a single, young mom, I decided to pump and not worry about the latch. He drank about 1/3 of what I was able to pump--seriously. My freezer was full. My mom had suggested a "milk bank". But I couldn't find any info on it, and I couldn't get a return call from our Le Leche, so I stopped all together--I didn't have much support in the breastfeeding area at all! Had I been able to find info on where to send it, I so would have continued pumping!

Re: Would you donate?

I posted on MilkShare and contacted LLL and LLL never replied but I did get a reply from a mama about 1.5 hrs from me that said her milk is promised to someone else but that she makes much more than needed so I could have the rest. Hopefully it pans out because DD is now on formula

Re: Would you donate?

I had extra milk and wanted to donate to someone local and search but couldn't find someone. Of course you need to let them know that your DC's first and sometimes you just may not be able to donate (vacations, busy times, etc) they should be very understanding. Good luck!

Re: Would you donate?

Just FYI - Unfortunately LLL cannot help with this. The best you could do is go to a meeting and quietly ask mothers if they are willing to donate. You would have to do it outside the presence of a Leader though. A Leader cannot legally help you do this. If she did she could be in enormous trouble. That is probably why you haven't heard back from them.
